I had the opportunity to travel, on the company dime, to spend Victoria Day long weekend in Dawson City, where the gold rush of 1896 began. The drive is about 525 km (325 miles) north of Whitehorse, down the Yukon River. A funny side note, the rivers up here generally flow north to the Arctic Ocean, so going “downstream” generally takes you north… another “northern” thing to get use to.

There is an annual general trade show held the Friday and Saturday of Victoria Day weekend, so I volunteered to man our display booth, and got a free trip and 3 nights at a terrific little inn (formerly a Bordello,) named Bombay Peggy’s.
